Plain-English Summary

1 Introduction

ShotLabs LLC ("ShotLabs," "we," "us," or "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use the ShotLabs mobile application, website at shotlabsbasketball.com, and all related services (collectively, the "Platform").

By creating an account or using the Platform, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Platform.

This policy should be read alongside our Terms of Service, which governs your use of the Platform, including limitations of liability that apply to data-related claims.

2 Information We Collect

Account Information

When you register, we collect your name, email address, username, date of birth, and gender. Date of birth and gender are used for age classification, group formation, and league eligibility — they are not displayed publicly.

Phone number (optional) — collected if provided and used to deliver SMS game notifications and alerts via Twilio. Your phone number is not displayed publicly and is not shared with other users.

Profile Information

Information you choose to add to your profile, including profile photo, player position, skill level, zip code, industry, job title, company name, and LinkedIn URL.

Peer Rating Data (Opt-In Only)

ShotLabs offers an optional peer ratings feature for players who choose to participate. Peer rating data is collected only with your explicit consent:

Consent notice: By opting in to the peer ratings feature, you consent to receiving subjective community feedback from verified co-participants and to having that feedback displayed on your profile. This consent is voluntary and may be withdrawn at any time.

Reputation and Activity Data

The Platform generates and stores reputation records as part of its core functionality, including no-show records, attendance history, and game participation history.

No-show records and attendance data are visible to other authenticated users of the Platform as part of its core functionality. This is disclosed at account creation. See our Terms of Service for the dispute process.

League and Tournament Data

When you register a team for a league or tournament, we collect team name, coach name and contact information, and player roster information including names and email addresses. For players under 13, we collect parent or guardian email addresses instead of player emails.

Location Data

With your permission, we collect device location data to show nearby gyms and pickup games. You can disable location access at any time through your device settings.

Usage and Device Data

Information about how you interact with the Platform, device type, OS, unique device identifiers, and crash and diagnostic data. Crash data is not linked to your personal identity and is used solely for app stability purposes.

Fan Follow Data

If you follow another user as a fan, or if another user follows you, we store the relationship including your fan invite token, follow status, approval date, and notification preferences.

Communications

Messages sent through the Platform's messaging features between users.

Payment Information

If you subscribe to ShotLabs Pro, payment information is processed securely by Stripe. We do not store your full payment card details.

3 How We Use Your Information

4 Information Sharing

We do not sell your personal information. We share information only in the following circumstances:

Peer rating data is never shared with third parties, used for advertising, or sold.

5 Peer Rating Data — Opt-In, Opt-Out, and Retention

Opting In

Players aged 13 or older may opt in to the peer ratings system during the onboarding flow or at any time through Profile Settings. Opting in constitutes your explicit consent to receive subjective community feedback and to have that feedback displayed on your profile.

Who Can Submit Ratings

Only verified co-participants from shared, confirmed game events may submit ratings. Ratings submitted outside this verified relationship are not accepted.

Age Restriction

Players under 13 are excluded from the peer ratings system entirely regardless of parental consent. This restriction is enforced at the platform level based on date of birth provided at registration.

Minimum Submission Threshold

Individual rating scores are not displayed publicly until a minimum number of verified submissions have been received, protecting players from isolated or bad-faith reports.

Opting Out

You may opt out of peer ratings at any time through Profile Settings. Upon opting out:

Data Visibility

Rating data is visible only to authenticated users. It is never shared with third parties, used for advertising, or sold.

Disputes

If you believe a rating was submitted in bad faith or by a non-verified co-participant, you may submit a dispute through the in-app dispute process. See our Terms of Service for the full dispute process and resolution timeline.

6 Location Data

ShotLabs requests access to your device's location to show nearby games and gyms on the Game Map. Location data is used only for this purpose and is not shared with third parties for advertising.

You can disable location access at any time through your device settings. Disabling location will limit the Game Map and nearby game features but will not affect team schedule, messaging, or other non-location features.

7 AI-Assisted Processing — Nova

The Platform uses Anthropic's Claude API to power Nova, our AI assistant. When you interact with Nova:

SHOTLABS DISCLAIMS ALL LIABILITY FOR ANY DECISION MADE IN RELIANCE ON A NOVA RESPONSE. SEE SECTION 14 OF OUR TERMS OF SERVICE FOR APPLICABLE LIABILITY LIMITATIONS.

8 Children's Privacy — COPPA

ShotLabs complies with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA). Users must be at least 13 years old to create an independent account.

Users Under 13

Children under the age of 13 may participate in ShotLabs through a verified parental consent flow. In this flow:

Users Under 13 — Peer Ratings Exclusion

Players under the age of 13 are excluded from the peer ratings system entirely regardless of parental consent. This is a platform-level restriction enforced at registration and at the point of opt-in.

When coaches or organizers add players under 13 to a league or tournament roster, they are required to provide a parent or guardian email address. ShotLabs will contact the parent directly rather than the minor.

If we become aware that we have collected personal information from a child under 13 without verified parental consent, we will delete that information promptly. To report a concern, contact us at support@shotlabsbasketball.com.
